Determining the appropriate challenge level for your party of heroes can often prove to be a complex task. This application simplifies the computational aspects, considering factors such as creature count and character levels, allowing users to dedicate more time to adventure planning.

The initial step involves detailing the character levels within your party. The application accommodates a reasonable number of characters, reaching levels up to 20. For instance, users can specify a composition such as three level-4 characters, one level-5 character, and one level-6 character.

Following the character setup, the app provides XP thresholds for different challenge difficulties: easy, medium, hard, and deadly. These thresholds serve as foundational elements for two additional features: Creature Count per CR and Custom Encounter Difficulty.

• Creature Count per CR: This feature offers a quick-reference chart that indicates the maximum number of creatures for each Challenge Rating suitable for generating encounters of varying difficulties. For example, should you seek a hard encounter for the previously mentioned five-member party involving Challenge 2 creatures like ogres, the chart indicates that four such creatures would be appropriate.
• Custom Encounter Difficulty: This calculator allows for the creation of encounters that incorporate multiple creatures of mixed CRs and returns a difficulty rating for the encounter. For illustration, utilizing our example party of five members in the Custom Encounter Difficulty calculator enables the construction of an encounter featuring one CR1, two CR2, and one CR3 creature; the application would then indicate that this setup constitutes a hard encounter worth 3,600 XP.
